TREMENDOUS SHRIMP & STEAK FRIED RICE
WOULD YOU EAT THIS TREMENDOUS SHRIMP & STEAK FRIED RICE
Ingredients:
1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 lb steak (such as sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
2 cups cooked rice (preferably cold or day-old for best texture)
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup mixed vegetables (such as peas, carrots, and corn)
3 green onions, sliced
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
1 tsp sesame oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Cook the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until browned and cooked to your liking. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside with the steak.
Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant and translucent, about 1-2 minutes. Add the mixed vegetables and cook until tender.
Add the rice: Add the cooked rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps and stirring to combine with the vegetables. Cook for a few minutes, allowing the rice to crisp up slightly.
Combine ingredients: Push the rice and vegetables to one side of the skillet. Pour the beaten eggs into the empty side and scramble until cooked. Mix the eggs into the rice.
Add the steak and shrimp: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring to combine all the ingredients.
Garnish and serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.
