 Ingredients
For the Broth:
6 cups chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 green onions, chopped
½ teaspoon white pepper (optional)
Salt, to taste
For the Wontons:
25–30 store-bought or homemade wonton wrappers
½ lb ground chicken, pork, or shrimp
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 green onion, finely chopped
½ teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Prepare the Filling:
In a bowl, combine ground meat (chicken, pork, or shrimp), soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, green onion, sugar, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
Assemble Wontons:
Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold diagonally to form a triangle, and press to seal. Bring the two corners together and press again to form the classic wonton shape.
Make the Broth:
In a large pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in chicken broth and soy sauce, and bring to a boil.
Cook the Wontons:
Gently add the wontons into the simmering broth. Cook for 5–7 minutes or until they float to the top and the meat is cooked through.
Finish and Serve:
Add chopped green onions, adjust seasoning with salt or more soy sauce, and serve hot.
