Spicy Dumpling Soup
Ingredients
For the Dumplings (Wontons):
  • 1 pack wonton wrappers (round or square)
  • 200 g (7 oz) ground chicken, pork, or shrimp (or mix)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt & pepper to taste
For the Broth:
  • 4 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili oil (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt to taste
For Garnish:
  • Fresh chopped green onions
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)
Instructions
  • Make the Dumpling Filling:
  • In a bowl, mix ground meat, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Wrap the Dumplings:
  • Place 1 tsp filling in the center of a wonton wrapper.
  • Wet the edges with water, fold in half (triangle/half-moon), and seal tightly. Repeat with remaining filling.
  • Prepare the Broth:
  • Heat a pot with a little sesame oil. Sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  • Add chicken broth, soy sauce, chili oil, vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Cook the Dumplings:
  • Gently drop dumplings into the simmering broth. Cook 5–7 minutes until dumplings float and filling is cooked through.
  • Serve:
  • Ladle dumplings and broth into bowls.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro.
