- 4Â beef or chicken fillets
- 2Â eggs
- 1Â cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/2Â cup of wheat flour
- 1Â cup of tomato sauce
- 200g of cooked ham
- 200g of mozzarella cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Dried oregano to taste
- Frying oil
- Season the fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Coat them in flour, then in beaten egg, and finally in breadcrumbs. Press down to ensure the breading adheres well.
- Fry the breaded cutlets in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Place on a baking tray, cover each breaded cutlet with tomato sauce, ham and cheese.
- Sprinkle with oregano and bake at 200°C for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve hot with your choice of side dish.
Notes
- Chicken fillets can be used for a lighter version.
- Panko-type breadcrumbs improve the crispy texture.
- To freeze, do so before the final baking.
