Ingredients
For the dough:
-
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
- 100g of traditional sugar (crystal)
- 70 ml vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sour cream (130 g)
- 220 g wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder (Royal type)
For the filling:
- 3 to 4 apples (peeled and sliced)
- Cinnamon powder to taste
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
For the farofa (crunchy topping):
- 3 tablespoons of wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of butter (or margarine) at room temperature
Preparation method:
In a bowl, beat the eggs with the salt, vanilla sugar and granulated sugar until you get a light and foamy cream (about 4 to 5 minutes).
Then add the oil and sour cream, mixing well until everything is well incorporated.
Add the wheat flour already mixed with the yeast and stir until a smooth, homogeneous dough forms. Pour into a buttered baking dish.
Mix the apple slices with the sugar and cinnamon to taste, and distribute evenly over the dough.
Prepare the stuffing and bake:
In a small bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and butter until it resembles moist crumbs. Use your fingertips to help mix it in. Sprinkle the topping over the apples.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 to 45 minutes, or until the surface is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Final tip
This cake is even tastier served warm, accompanied by fresh tea or coffee.Â
The fluffy texture of the dough, the citrus touch of the apples and the crunchiness of the topping make this recipe a true homemade delight!
