Homemade Vanilla Butter Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1¹/² tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1¹/² cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions:

 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour 9-inch round cake pans or a 9×13-inch pan
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla.
  • Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix.
  • Divide batter between pans and smooth the tops.
  • Bake for 30–minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  • Slice and enjoy
