Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 3 cloves Garlic Finely chopped
  • 1 inch piece Ginger, peeled and grated About 25 grams
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil 30 ml
Spices
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric About 2 grams
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon About 2.6 grams
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper About 1 gram
Herbs
  • 2 tablespoons Basil, fresh or 1 tablespoon, dried (about 3 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon Oregano, dried About 4.5 grams
  • 1 tablespoon Thyme, fresh or 1 teaspoon, dried (about 1.5 grams)
Finishing Touch
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice About 15 ml

Method

Preparation
  1. Finely chop the garlic and grate the ginger. Set aside.
Cooking
  1. In a medium skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently.
  3. Stir in the turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper. Cook for another minute to release their flavors.
  4. Add the fresh basil, oregano, and thyme. If you’re using dried herbs, add them now. Stir well to combine everything.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and drizzle in the lemon juice. Mix thoroughly to coat the herbs and spices evenly.
  6. Allow the mixture to cool before using it in your favorite recipes.

Notes

Fresh vs. Dried: Whenever possible, use fresh herbs as they tend to have a brighter flavor. Dried herbs work well too; just remember they are more concentrated. Customize your mix: Feel free to swap in your favorite herbs! Store leftover herb and spice mixtures in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
