Ingredients

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 red bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 3 green onions sliced

Sauce

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain, rinse lightly, and set aside.
  • Brown the beef in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon oil. Break it apart and cook until no longer pink. Drain excess fat and remove beef from pan.
  • Sauté the vegetables: Add remaining oil to the same pan. Add garlic, ginger, carrots, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook for about 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
  • Make the sauce: In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, broth, and cornstarch.
  • Combine: Return beef to the pan. Add cooked noodles and pour the sauce over everything. Toss well.
  • Simmer: Cook 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the noodles.
  • Finish: Sprinkle with green onions, toss once more, and serve hot.
