Ingredients Required
- 1 cup coconut oil (cold-pressed preferred)
- A handful of fresh curry leaves
- 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds (methi)
- 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds or kalonji seeds
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 1 medium-sized aloe vera leaf (cut into pieces)
- 4–5 garlic cloves (peeled)
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
- 2–3 fresh hibiscus flowers (or 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus petals)
Procedure
Prepare the Ingredients
- Chop the aloe vera leaf into small cubes.
- Slice the onion and garlic cloves for quicker infusion.
- If using fresh hibiscus flowers, rinse and tear them into smaller pieces.
Heat the Coconut Oil
- In a heavy-bottomed pan or kadai, pour the coconut oil and heat on low flame.
Add Base Ingredients
- Once the oil is warm, add chopped onion, garlic, curry leaves, and aloe vera pieces.
- Let them cook on low heat for 3–4 minutes until they begin to sizzle.
Add Seeds and Herbs
- Now add fenugreek seeds, sesame or kalonji seeds, and dried rosemary leaves.
- Stir the mixture gently to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom.
Add Hibiscus Flowers
Finally, add hibiscus flowers and let them infuse for another 3–4 minutes.
Simmer and Turn Off Heat
- Let all ingredients simmer together on low heat for around 10–12 minutes.
- Turn off the heat when the curry leaves look crisp, and the oil turns dark with a rich herbal aroma.
- Allow the oil to cool completely. Strain using a fine mesh or muslin cloth into a clean glass bottle.
Instructions for Use
- Warm a small amount of oil before applying.
- Massage gently into the scalp and along the hair strands.
- Leave it on for a minimum of 2 hours or preferably overnight.
- Use 2–3 times a week for best results.
- Shampoo with a mild sulfate-free cleanser.
