Ingredients:

- 1 kg of potatoes
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 300 ml of cream
- 100 ml of milk
- 50 g butter
- 100g grated cheese (gruyère, emmental or parmesan)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pinch of nutmeg
- Fresh parsley or chives for garnish

Preparation method:
- Prepare the potatoes:
- Wash, peel and cut the potatoes into thin slices of approximately 3 mm to ensure even cooking and better absorption of the sauce.
- Make the sauce base:
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped garlic and sauté for a few minutes until it releases its aroma, without letting it brown too much.
- Incorporate the liquids:
- Pour the cream and milk into the pan.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cook over low heat for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add the potatoes:
- Add the potato slices to the sauce and mix carefully to coat well.
- Cook over medium-low heat for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender but not falling apart.
- Finish in the oven:
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Transfer the mixture to a serving dish and sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Serve and decorate:
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Finish with fresh parsley or chopped chives for a special touch.
