Moist Chocolate Loaf Cake
Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
Mixing
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, making sure each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix just until combined.
- Slowly pour in the hot water or coffee while mixing on low speed. The batter will be thin but smooth and glossy.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips if desired.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For the best presentation, slice the cake into thick pieces. It can be served plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or with a dollop of whipped cream. Adding berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream enhances the experience.
